Languishing Projects

The problem of inadequate resources is compounded with the cost overrun of the projects which leads delay in project completion. There were large numbers of projects which were at different stage of development and left half way due to inadequate funding or due to other reasons. It was observed that good numbers of projects were languishing for more than 7 -8 years and investment made on them was in a way wasteful expenditure whereas public remained discontented. To address the financial constraints and to accomplish all such languishing projects that have led to the public dissatisfaction, Government of Jammu & Kashmir in September, 2018 took a landmark decision to fund all the languishing projects which were left halfway for want of funds through Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Fund Corporation (JKIDFC).

Under this new scenario PW(R&B) department identified 622 languishing projects across the all districts which were approved by the Finance Department at a cost of Rs 1446.73 Cr through JKIDFC funding.
